1. The Hong Kong Central Council of Catholic Laity has produced 2026 Lai See packets and Lunar New Year couplets for distribution to our parishioners. All are welcome to obtain and offer donations.
2. On Monday, 16 February, the Lunar New Year’s Eve Mass will take place at 8:00pm. The 6:00pm weekday mass will be cancelled. On Tuesday, 17 February, there will only be one mass celebration at 9:00am for Lunar New Year’s Day.
3. Ash Wednesday falls on 18 February, which is the Second Day of Lunar New Year. There will only be one mass celebration at 9:00am, with the rite of sprinkling of ashes. Parishioners are dispensed from fast and abstinence on that day, but you are obliged to choose some other suitable forms of penance or perform some works of charity, in keeping with the penitential spirit of the Season of Lent.
4.On 20 February, first Friday of Lent, the Way of the Cross devotion will be held at 8:00pm. Afterwards, the rite of the giving of ashes will follow.
5. For our parishioners’ spiritual nourishment, the Parish will organize a Lenten Season Bible Reading and Prayer Activity from 22 February (First Sunday of Lent) to 2 April (Holy Thursday). We invite you to form or join a group with five to seven people. All are to read the daily Gospel and pray with God’s word. Each person will take turn every day to share the bible text that has touched you with fellow members of the group. Registration forms will be provided by the Parish Office for participation in this enriching Lenten exercise.
6. We will hold our Chinese New Year Parish Family Gathering on Sunday, 1 March, at the Fung Keung Hall from 9:30am to 12:30pm. All communities and parishioners are welcome to sponsor the event. Donations can be offered to the Parish Office.
7. The February issue of the Shepherd Flock’s Dialogue is out. Please obtain your copy at the St. John Bosco Foyer or at the Office Reception. Taking further copies to share with others is very welcome.
